Cleaning Instructions
We have found the simplest method for cleaning and removing
labels is to add to your washing up at the end and leave to
drain overnight.
| Bottles |
| |
Milk bottles (type 2) fill with hot water, fit cap on and
shake thoroughly (do this twice) the label should be easy to
peel off when hot, then remove lid and clean the screw thread
VERY well. Drain well, allow to dry and flatten OR cut in half
so that you can stack them - store the lid separately in a
bag.
Other Bottles (type 2: bleach, shampoo, washing up liquid
etc.) rinse with clean water until all traces of the
contents are gone drain well and allow to dry with the lid
OFF store the lid separately in a bag.
|
| Tubs and pots
|
| |
Yoghurt pots/ Margarine tubs/cottage cheese etc (type
2,4,5,6) These can be added to the washing up and cleaned just
like ordinary cups and left to dry. They can be stacked inside
each other to save space Some white or coloured (but NOT clear) plastic jars and tubs
(type 2 check for the symbol) rinse, dry and store in a
bag with bottle or jar lids. |
| Bottle tops
|
| |
All Plastic lids (type 2,4,5) rinse, dry and store in a
bag 35mm Film tubs store in a bag with bottle and jar tops. |
| Bags and film Type 4 |
| |
Sliced bread bags (type 4) remove the sealing tape, turn
inside out and shake ALL crumbs out, especially in the folds.
Turn the right way out and fold neatly and stack flat.
Frozen food bags (type 4) turn inside out and rinse under
the tap (if fatty food chips etc use washing up liquid to
clean) DRY with tea towel, turn right way out, fold neatly and
stack flat. Toilet roll packing/ Plastic can holders (type 4) fold
neatly and stack flat and store in a bag
All other soft plastic bags, (e.g. vegetable packaging) and
exhausted thicker and softer carrier bags (type 4) make sure
they are CLEAN and DRY, then fold neatly and stack. |
| Bags and film Type 2 |
| |
ALL Supermarket carrier bags
Very thin and crinkly bags and carrier bags (type 2) -
make sure they are CLEAN and DRY, then fold neatly and stack.
